Baseball Tabbed Seventh in Landmark Preseason Poll

TOWSON, Md.- The Juniata baseball team was selected seventh in this year's Landmark Conference preseason poll.

Catholic takes the top spot in the preseason poll as they are seated first with 48 points, behind them is Elizabethtown (43), Susquehanna (42), Moravian (38), Scranton (23), Drew (19), and then Juniata with 18 points.

Sophomore, Isaac Maclay (Belleville, Pa. / Mifflin County High School) was named Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and also named to the All-Conference second team last season. The sophomore infielder hit .344 with 44 hits, seven doubles, eight homeruns, 27 RBI, 13 walks and 28 runs scored. In the field, Maclay had 23 put outs and turned three double plays. His eight homeruns were tied for second in the Landmark. His eight homers also tied for the sixth most in a single season in Juniata history. 

Other top returners for the Eagles; seniors Devyn Carper (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) and Hunter Price (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area) and junior, Adam Kipp (Mt. Wolf, Pa. / Northeastern). Last season, Carper scored 26 runs and had a career high of eight doubles and 17 stolen bases. Fellow senior, Price scored nine runs, recorded a career high of 27 hits, 13 RBI, and four stolen bases while hitting .287. Pitcher/first baseman, Kipp recorded a career high of 14 runs and 33 hits and added nine doubles, three triples and a home run while hitting .355. As a pitcher, Kipp pitched 43 innings and recorded 27 strikeouts.
