Bethlehem, Pa.- The Juniata baseball team lost the first game of their three games series at Moravian, 12-1, on a cloudy Friday afternoon at Gillespie Field.
The teams traded zeros through the first two innings, until the Greyhounds scored the opening run of the game via a sac fly to right. The Moravian bats got hot as they scored two more runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and two more in the sixth as they opened a 9-0 lead.
Juniata scored their lone run of the game in the seventh. Adam Kipp (Mt. Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) led off with a single and got to second on a wild pitch. Austin Suders (Marion, Pa./Chambersburg Area) drew a walk before Matt Innella (Commack, N.Y./Commack) reached on a fielder's choice. Suders got to second while Kipp scored from second on an error by the shortstop.
Moravian scored three more in the bottom half of the inning.
The teams meet twice tomorrow to wrap up the series. First pitch is at 12:30.
