Juniata Baseball Teams Up with Vs. Cancer Foundation

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Juniata baseball is once again teaming up with the Vs. Cancer Foundation throughout their three-game series against Catholic University this weekend.

The Vs. Cancer Story began when freshman baseball player at the University of North Carolina, Chase Jones, was diagnosed with Stage-4 brain cancer. Jones and his teammates decided to take action and do something to help kids who, much like Chase, were battling cancer while also providing other student-athletes with a platform to make a difference themselves.

Since the organization was founded in 2012, over 100 participating clubs from the youth to professional level have teamed up with the cause. This year, Juniata baseball players and coaches are currently participating in fundraising efforts with the foundation and have already raised $2,535 of their $5,000 goal.

Half of the money Juniata raises will go to benefit national childhood cancer research and the other half will be given to local childhood cancer hospitals. Fans can donate online now at https://team.vs-cancer.org/team/98940.

The Landmark Conference series will begin on Sat. April 22 with a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m., followed by a single game Sun. April 23 at noon.
