Juniata Baseball Bested By Drew at Langdon-Goodale Field

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata dropped two to Drew today by scores of 16-3 and 15-1. The Eagles are now 5-19 for the season with a 0-4 record in conference play.

 

JC got on the board in the third inning of game one, starting off with singles by Devin McLaughlin (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional) and Devyn Carper (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area). Chris Schreder (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) reached his 100th career hit with a single of his own to advance McLaughlin and Carper to scoring positions and Cameron Livingston (Blairsville, Pa./Blairsville) reached on a fielder's choice, sending in an RBI. Adam Kipp (Mt. Wolf, Pa./Northeastern) had a sacrifice fly to left field to send Carper home for the second run of the inning.

 

In the bottom of the fourth, Isaac Kline (Everett, Pa./Bedford) singled, advancing to second with an error by the short stop. McLaughlin singled to center to move Kline to third, and Kline then scored on a wild pitch for the Eagle's third and final run of the game.

 

Caleb Pepperday (Phillipsburg, Pa./Phillipsburg-Osceola HS) came in to relieve J.D. Weyant (New Paris, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) in the seventh and struck out two.

 

Game two started off strong for Juniata, the team holding the Rangers until the top of the fourth. The Eagles scored a run in the third to go ahead 1-0 after singles from Carper, Schreder, and Matt Innella (Commack, NY/Commack). Drew then went ahead 8-1 in the fourth and kept their lead for the remainder of the game.

 

Juniata will return to action tomorrow at noon for the third and final game of the series against Drew.
