Albion Uses Big Inning To Knock Off Eagles

WINTER HAVEN, Fla.- The Britons of Albion College used a 10-run fifth inning to break open the game as they defeated Juniata 17-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The game was played at the Chain of Lakes Park.

The game had the makings of a pitchers duel as it was scoreless through three innings of play. The Eagles were the first to get on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Anthony Lombardo (Altoona, Pa/Altoona Area) led off with a double to right field. Chris Sinisi's (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) sacrifice bunt moved Lombardo to third. Isaac Kline (Everett, Pa/Bedford) walked to put runners at the corners. Zach Tobash (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central) then stepped up and hit a deep fly ball to center that Lombardo tagged up on and scored as Juniata went up 1-0.

The Britons took the lead in the bottom of the fifth with three runs to go up 3-1. JC had two runners on in the sixth but came up empty. The damage was done in the Albion sixth as the Britons increased their lead to 13-1.

Ichiro Narita (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Latin) pitched 3.1 innings and gave up seven hits, three earned runs, and three walks while striking out one batter. Chris Schreder (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) picked up two hits on the afternoon with Joe Klusman (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) and Lombardo both doubling.

Juniata plays Ursinus in doubleheader tomorrow morning. Game 1 begins a 9:00 a.m. with the second game starting around 11:00 a.m
