Juniata Announces National Search For Next Head Baseball Coach

Juniata Announces National Search For Next Head Baseball Coach

HUNTINGDON, PA- Juniata Athletic Director Greg Curley has announced that Jesse Leonard will be stepping down as the Eagles’ head baseball coach in order to take on additional responsibilities within Student Affairs.  A national search for Juniata’s new head coach is currently underway.

“We are all very appreciative of the commitment and dedication that Jesse has shown Juniata baseball as both a player and a coach and support his decision,” Curley said. “Although his role will change, he will still be very much involved in our athletic department and will continue to support our baseball program however he can.”

In addition to serving as head coach of Juniata baseball, Leonard has served as the director of public safety at Juniata and has been in that position since 2012.  With the opportunity to take on more responsibilities, Leonard made the decision to step away from the baseball program as he felt his added duties conflicted with his ability to lead the team.

Leonard took over the helm of the Eagles’ program prior to the 2012 season and was an assistant coach in 2007. He was a player from 2003-2006 and was a part of the Eagles’ 30-win season in 2006 and their 2004 Commonwealth Championship and NCAA tournament team.
