Eagles Wrap Up Season at Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Juniata baseball team (8-27, 2-19 Landmark) concluded their season with a doubleheader on the road against Penn College (15-16) Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats took the sweep, making a comeback in game one to win 4-3 and shutting out the Eagles 4-0 in game two.

After Jacob Terry (Denver, PA / Cocalico HS) was walked to start game one, Chris Schreder (Litiz, PA / Lancaster Catholic) hit a single to right that allowed Terry to get to third. With Anthony Lombardo (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) at the plate, the Eagles capitalized on the Wildcats' mistake and Schreder stole second while Terry stole home. Two outs later, Schreder would score an unearned run on a passed ball.

In the second, Tyler Morris (Ellicott City, MD / Centennial) hit a leadoff double to right field. Nick Stubbs (Hagerstown, MD / South Hagerstown) hit an RBI-single to centerfield to bring in Morris and the Eagles took a 3-0 lead over Penn College.

The Wildcats added one run in the third but pulled the game-winning run in the fifth inning.

Wayne Hydak (North Versailles, PA / Serra Catholic) was the starting pitcher for Juniata in game one. Hydak tossed 4.1 innings, allowed five hits and struck out two batters. Caleb Pepperday (Phillipsburg, PA / Phillipsburg-Osceola HS) was his relief and threw for 1.2 innings, gave up one hit and struck out one.

Despite being unable to cross home plate, Juniata recorded five hits in game two. Schreder led the team and went 2-for-3 at the plate. Brady Cotler (Chadds Ford, PA / Salesianum), Kyle Pannebaker (Thompsontown, PA / East Juniata) and Stubbs got a hit a-piece against the Wildcats.

Jesse Beeler (Greencastle, PA / Greencastle-Antrim) was first on the mound in game two. Beeler threw 4.0 innings, gave up just three hits, one walk and struck out one. Chris Sinisi (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) tossed the last two innings and gave up four hits, one walk and recorded three strikeouts.
