AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The last day under the Florida sun was not kind to the Juniata College baseball team as the Eagles fell 21-4 to Dickinson College. Juniata dropped to 3-8 on the year and will next hit the diamond Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16, on Depew Field at Bucknell University to face Susquehanna University in the first Landmark Conference series of the 2014 season.

The Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning. Junior centerfielder Cody Krepps (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) drew a one out walk and scored on the RBI double by senior designated hitter Joe Sforza (Pittstown, N.J./Immaculata). Sforza came around to score on the RBI single by sophomore third baseman Kyle Pannebaker (Thompsontown, Pa./East Juniata).

Juniata held off the Red Devils in the bottom of the first, but Dickinson came back with three runs in the bottom of the second, three in the third, five in the fourth, and 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Eagles managed two more runs in the top of the seventh when senior shortstop Derek Heath (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) singled home senior catcher Jonathan Geyer (Newport, Pa./Newport) followed by a sacrifice fly by sophomore center fielder Alex Matoushek (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) to plate freshman first baseman Eric Grace (Hopewell, Pa./Northern Bedford) for the final run of the game.

Juniata will stay on the road this week for the neutral site series against Susquehanna before returning home Wed., March 19, for the 2014 home opener against Gettysburg College. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
