Juniata Drops Series Finale at Moravian

Juniata Drops Series Finale at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After splitting the doubleheader yesterday, Juniata College baseball fell 11-1 in the series finale at Moravian Sunday.  Juniata is now 4-12 overall, 1-4 in Landmark Conference action.

Five Eagles earned hits in the game.  Moravian's righty Rob Solano pitched an incredible game and kept Juniata's batters off-balance for seven innings.  Going up against the Greyhound's Chris Soltys in the top of the ninth, freshman Alex Matoushek (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) came in to pinch hit and walked to lead off.

Freshman Kyle Pannebaker (Thompsontown, Pa./East Juniata) then singled to right center and Matoushek got on his horse to make it to third.  When the next batter lined out to right field, Matoushek tagged up and went home to end the shutout.  Junior Mario DeYulis (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) received the loss and Solano the win.

Juniata stays on the road for its next game.  The Eagles head down to Gettysburg on Tuesday, March 26 before playing host to Catholic in a home conference series March 29-30.
