Eagles Drop Pair at Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Juniata baseball opened the season at Bridgewater University with a pair of losses (10-3, 11-3) over the weekend.  Senior Cole Walters (Mt. Union, Pa./Mt. Union) went 6-for-8 on the day with his first double of the season and senior Chase Dykstra (Somerset, Pa./Somerset Area) earned three RBI.

 

Walters went 2-for-4 in game one.  Juniata was down 3-0 in the top of the fifth when Dykstra singled to left center and drove in two runs.  The teams traded runs until Bridgewater pulled away in the seventh. 

 

In game two, Walters was the one of four Eagles to have multiple hits. Junior Dan Gray (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) went 2-for-3 and scored two of the Eagles three runs.  Fellow junior Derek Heath (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon) and freshman Joe Klusman (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) also finished with two hits apiece.

 

Juniata will have a week to prepare for its game against Waynesburg on Saturday, March 2 and doubleheader at Stevenson on Sunday, March 3.
