Juniata takes all four Landmark track athlete of the week honors

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College’s Jack Iosue (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central), Ceth Parker (Sabillasville, Md./Catoctin), Kristyn Ginter (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) and Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) all earned Landmark Conference Player of the Week honors on Monday in their respective track and field events, for their efforts at Saturday’s Dr. Jack M. Toms Open hosted by Lynchburg College.

Jack Iosue earned Landmark Men’s Field Athlete of the Week with a first place in the javelin competition with a 199-6 mark, one that would have ranked him 18th in all of Division III last season.

Senior Ceth Parker took the Landmark’s Men’s Track Athlete of the Week with a third place finish in the 1,500 with a personal best time of 4:01.63. The time would have been the fastest of the conference during the 2011 season and it is just 1.6 seconds shy of the Juniata record.

Sophomore Katrina Woods ran the 1,500 in 4:48.72 to earn first place, just .60 seconds off the Juniata record. She also ran a personal best in the 800 with a 2:27.18 time to place 10th overall. Her two outstanding performances on the track clinched her the Landmark Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.

A first place toss in the javelin competition earned Kristyn Ginter Landmark Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Ginter recorded a 115-10 throw, a better toss than she mustered-up all last season. Ginter’s competition winning throw would have ranked her third in the conference during the 2011 outdoor season.

Both men’s and women’s track and field will host its only home meet, the Juniata Invitational, on March 24, 2012 in Huntingdon, Pa.
