SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Juniata’s men’s and women’s track and field competed in the 2012 Landmark Conference Track and Field Indoor Championships Saturday afternoon at Susquehanna University. The men placed fourth with 72 points and the women took fifth in the conference with 63.
Aaron McCoy (Muncy, Pa./Hughesville) took second in the 60m dash with a 7.15 time to earn the Eagles eight points and also placed third in the 200m sprint with a 23.71 time.
Tyler Mandley (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) and Dan Hoover (Roaring Spring, Pa./Central High) took second and third respectively in the 60m hurdles with times of 9.07 and 9.08 correspondingly.
Justin Clapper (Buffalo Mills, Pa./Bedford) led the men in the field events with two third place finishes. Clapper cleared the bar at 13-5 ¼ in the pole vault competition. Clapper also took third in the weight throw with a toss of 47-5 ¾.
Nicholas Bauer (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) earned a third place finish in the long jump with a leap of 21-7 ½ and placed sixth in the triple jump with a 40-6 mark.
The women were led by Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) who accumulated 19 points over her four events, including a second place finish in the 60m hurdles with a 9.55 time. Shaffer also took second in the high jump clearing the bar with a 5-1 ¾ jump, tying her best mark of the indoor season. Senior Erika Brown (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) earned the first place finish in the women’s high jump also with a 5-1 2/4 leap.
Sophomore Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) placed second in the 5000m run with a finishing time of 10:15.93 and third in the one mile run as she crossed the finish line in 5:27.93.
Freshman Chelsey Beaver (Shamokin Dan, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) earned fifth in the shot put with a 35 ½ toss.
